A.B. Callahan, Jr. went to his heavenly home on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Hillcrest Hospital South, Tulsa, at the age of 82. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, February 3, at Calvary Baptist Church with Brother Ron Meadows officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Monday, at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, with Pastor Marty Harkey officiating. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Marine Corps.

A.B. was born August 24, 1940, in Rich Mountain, Arkansas to Allie Bert Callahan, Sr. and Addie (Wilkins) Callahan. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Mena High School in 1959. A.B. served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and after his honorable discharge he made his home in Tulsa. He was set up on a double date with Leona Katherine "Kathy" Blake, and they would later be united in marriage on May 3, 1968, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Tulsa. They were a perfect team taking on life side by side.

A.B. was fascinated with airplanes and found employment as a security guard with Rockwell International. He retired at 55 years old after 27 years of service. A.B. collected coins and took care to carefully protect and store each one of them. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. His greatest wish for each of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was for them to know Christ. He enjoyed playing games with the guys from the church, kept Pepsi in business as he never drank anything else, enjoyed trains, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies and great-grandbabies. A.B. was a good dad. He was easy going, quiet, even keeled, as well as a bit ornery and a jokester. He will be dearly missed.

A.B. is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy in 2019; his parents; his sister, Lou Taylor; and his granddaughter, Emily Boswell.

Survivors include his children: Carla Schenck and husband, Scott of Booneville, MO, Brad Callahan of Broken Arrow, Robin Boswell and husband, Ken of Tulsa, and Jeff Callahan and wife, Amanda of Tulsa; grandchildren: Sean Callahan and wife, Helen, Natalie Ross and husband, Stephen, Elizabeth Kelley and husband, Matt, McKenzie Hale and wife, Emily, Hannah Callahan, and Kerry Williams and husband, Kyle; and great-grandchildren: Elaine, Miles, Katherine Emily "Rin", and Wyatt.
