Alvoris "Ginger"
Ida Cochran
Oct 1, 1929 — Mar 6, 2025
SAND SPRINGS
Ginger Cochran passed from this life on Thursday, March 6th, 2025 at the age of 95. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service.
Alvoris Ida Adams was born to Alvoris (Al) and Ida Adams on October 1, 1929 in Sand Springs, OK. She gained the lifelong nickname "Ginger" from her beautiful auburn hair when someone could not remember her name "Alvoris".
Alongside her four sisters and mother, Ginger faithfully attended the Methodist Church. Ginger graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1947.
Shortly after graduating high school, Ginger married David H. Cochran from Wagoner, OK.
Ginger traveled most of her life as a military wife to Dave, who proudly served his career as Master Sergeant in the US Air Force. They lived in Enid OK, San Antonio, TX, Misawa, Japan, and Anchorage, AK. Once retired from the Air Force, they settled back home in Sand Springs.
Although once a licensed beautician, Ginger had a passion for children in the special education program and early childhood education. She joined the Foster Grandparent Program volunteering daily at the Sand Springs Kindergarten for more than a decade. In the summertime, when not volunteering with other school programs, she enjoyed catching up on her favorite soap operas and spending time with her granddaughters
Ginger is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dave, her parents, Al and Ida Adams, and three of her sisters, Lovell Sharp, Wilma Page, and Evadene Rauch.
She is survived by her sister Bonnie Beesinger of Sand Springs, her daughter Paula McCrary (husband Zene) and daughter Donna Perryman (husband Greg) both of Sand Springs, and her son David H. Cochran Jr. of Checotah, OK. She also leaves behind 5 granddaughters (Kaiya, Kimber, Rachel, Sara and Ashley) and 9 beloved great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Special Olympics of Oklahoma.
