Sand Springs
Anna Faye Jackson, lovingly known as Anna Faye, Mom, Mrs. Jackson, Granny, and Aunt Annie, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the remarkable age of 101. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Memorial Park. Viewing will be held at the funeral home from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Monday, with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m.
Anna Faye was born on March 12, 1923, in Gumlog, Arkansas, to James William "Jim" Collins and Jennie (Beuly) Collins. She was proud of her Arkansas heritage. She grew up in Moreland, Arkansas. Her father died at a young age. As a child, Anna Faye essentially grew up in the cotton fields in Moreland, Arkansas, with her siblings picking cotton right alongside her mother. At the end of each day, after working in the fields they all sat together for the evening meal. After the meal was done everyone would do some quilting on the quilt that was on the quilting frame. They worked from the time they were up until they went to bed.
She later moved to the Tulsa area with her cousins in search of work. It was during this time that she met General Lee "G.L." Jackson, a cab driver who quickly became enamored with her. The couple married on August 23, 1946, in Moreland, Arkansas, beginning a life together that spanned decades.
A dedicated worker, Anna Faye was employed by Allen Canning in Arkansas before retiring after 30 years of shift work at Kerr Glass Company. Known for her financial savvy, she generously shared her earnings with others and had a special bond with her brothers, R.H. and J.W., and nephews, Doyle and Greg.
The family moved to Sand Springs, and in 1956, Anna Faye and G.L. settled in Prattville, where she lived for 68 years. A talented homemaker, she excelled in quilting, cooking, and crocheting. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church quilting group for 40 years, creating beautiful quilts for cancer patients through Joy for the Cause and Lisa Bain Ministries. Her homemade pies were legendary, and she delighted in canning the produce grown in their garden.
Family was at the heart of Anna Faye's life. Her home was the gathering place for Sunday dinners and holiday meals, where her loved ones enjoyed her cooking and hospitality. She was known for her no-nonsense attitude, sass, wit, and strong will, embodying toughness and resilience.
Anna Faye was preceded in death by her husband, General Lee "G.L. or Pops" Jackson, in 2005; her son, Danny Lee Jackson, in 2006; her parents; and her siblings: Adam Collins, Wyson Collins, Bernell Bowden, J.W. Collins, and R.H. Collins.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debra Jackson Sewell, and husband, Stephen, of Sapulpa; her grandchildren: Shilo Dawn Jackson of Jenks, and Landon Jerrod Jackson and fiancée, Jennifer Wilcox, of Tulsa; and her great-grandchildren: Donovan Shelton and fiancée, Mehala Varner, Preston Shelton, Finley Shelton, and Charlotte Rose Marie Jackson.
Anna Faye's legacy of love, strength, and generosity will forever be cherished by her family and all who knew her.
