Billy Gene Crow departed this life on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the age of 92, at The Village of Southern Hills in Tulsa. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

A graveside service to honor Billy's life will be held on Thursday, November 7, at 1 p.m., at Woodland Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited to visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m.–8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m.–8 p.m.

Billy was born on August 8, 1932, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to Lester Newton "Bill" Crow and Pearl (Hall) Cummins. Growing up in Holdenville, Billy displayed a strong work ethic from an early age, starting work with the county at just 16. That same year, on December 18, 1948, he married Imogene Lee. Although their marriage ended in separation, Billy found love again with Anna Jo "Jodie" Cusher, whom he married on March 8, 1986, in Corpus Christi, Texas; she passed away on July 3, 2013. Later in life, he married again to Margie Lillian (Southern) Woodrum on February 4, 2021, in Van Buren, Arkansas.

A skilled heavy equipment operator, Billy helped construct dams across Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas, including in Broken Bow and Hugo. His work on the low-water dam in Sand Springs led him to make Sand Springs his home, where he raised his family. In 1957, he even ventured to Alaska to clear land for oil wells. Known for his fun-loving and mischievous spirit, Billy delighted in pestering and playfully wrestling with his kids, taking them along on work adventures, and spending cherished time fishing, camping, and boating. He could often be found pulling the kids behind his pickup in the snow, or showing off his favorite prank, delighting in a well-executed joke. A dedicated family man, he ensured they never went without, always making sure to share Sunday mornings with a special tradition of chocolate gravy and biscuits.

Billy was also a devoted fan of Westerns, a member of the Steelworkers Union, and cherished every moment spent with family on his pontoon boat, instilling a love for the outdoors in his children. His caring nature and memorable sense of humor will be deeply missed.

Billy is preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene; second wife, Jodie; his parents; and brother, Jerry Crow. He is survived by his wife, Margie of Ft. Gibson; his children: Peggy Watkins of Sand Springs, Wayne Crow of Tulsa, and Brenda Giles and husband, David of Sand Springs; stepdaughters: JoAnn Bradley and husband, Mike of Texas, and Sharon Kaye Herrington and husband, William of Wister; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members.

Billy's legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will be remembered forever by those who knew and loved him.
