Robert Ray "Bob" Bynum entered his heavenly home on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 83. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, at Broadway Baptist Church with Pastor Lee Herring officiating.

Bob was born on October 20, 1940, in Vian, Oklahoma, to Tullie Ray Bynum and Mayme Olive (Spears) Bynum. He grew up in Vian and graduated from Vian High School in 1958, where he ran track and played basketball. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961.

Bob was a hardworking man who owned several businesses, worked as a steel worker, and later joined the Sand Springs school system as a bus driver and maintenance worker before retiring. In retirement, he found joy in delivering donuts to his friends throughout the school district.

Bob was a family man who lived to serve others. Always joyous, he had a knack for lifting spirits and making those around him happy. A true patriot, Bob was a proud supporter of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

On June 16, 1967, Bob married the love of his life, Linda Joyce Cotner, in Vian, where they both grew up. Their marriage of 57 years was a testament to their enduring love and partnership.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his children: Michael Bynum of Sand Springs, and Cassie Weigle and her husband, Jed, of Edmond; his sisters: DeeAnn Parks of Vian, and Susan Erb of Ft. Gibson; his grandchildren: Cole Weigle, Skyler Bynum and his wife, Christina, Tyler Bynum, and Alex Bynum; and his great-granddaughter, Chloe Bynum.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tullie and Mayme Bynum, and his brother, Neil Bynum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 3033 Wilson Blvd., Ste. 300, Arlington, VA 22201-3843, or www.vvmf.org.

Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of service, joy, and love for his country and family will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
