Bonnie Lou
Plute
Jul 9, 1942 — Jun 17, 2026
Sand Springs
Bonnie Lou Plute, age 83, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Bonnie was born on July 9, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Joseph Kit Ausbern and Betty Lou Curry, and spent her early years in Sand Springs, graduating from Charles Page High School in 1960. On June 22, 1973, she married the love of her life, Edward Dean Plute, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together they shared many years of love, devotion, and family.
Bonnie retired 35 years ago after ending her working career as the Business Manager of the Sand Springs Leader newspaper. She was known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to her profession.
Family was the center of Bonnie's life. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She would spend hours researching her family's history, a passion reflected in the many three-ring binders she carefully compiled over the years. Many family members have been the recipients of quilts and crocheted afghans that she made by hand. Bonnie was an avid reader, and when her eyesight began to fail, she found joy in listening to audiobooks. She was also a lifelong dog lover, and her beloved teacup poodle, Lavender, held a special place in her heart.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Edward Dean Plute; her daughter, Quinn Wilson; her sons, Joe Plute, Jeff Plute, and John Plute; her "cousin-sister", Marsha Pope; her brothers, David Ausbern and Fred Ausbern; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Betty Ausbern, and her brother, John Ausbern, who gave his life for our country during the Vietnam War.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Woodland Cemetery in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Bonnie will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to preserving family history, her kindness, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
