Brenda Jean
Wren
May 9, 1949 — May 4, 2026
Jennings
Brenda Jean Wren, 76, entered her heavenly home on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living in Stillwater. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
A memorial service celebrating Brenda's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2026, at Grace Gospel Church in Jennings, with Pastor Casey Muse officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford.
Brenda was born on May 9, 1949, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Burl Brenton Higgins and Imogene Wanda (Ward) Higgins. She grew up in Tulsa and attended Central High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society.
As a young woman, Brenda began a pen pal correspondence with a young man named David Lee Allen Wren, who was serving in the military during the Vietnam War. After exchanging letters while he was overseas, the two met when he returned home, and their love story blossomed. They were united in marriage on January 27, 1973, in Tulsa. They made their home in Sand Springs for a short time before settling in Jennings, where they raised their family and built a life together.
Brenda had a servant's heart and a strong work ethic. Over the years, she worked in many roles at Jennings Public Schools, doing whatever was needed—from secretary to cook to custodian. Early in her life, she also worked as a nurse's aide and at a nursery school. In addition, she taught for several years at Grace Gospel Church School. Though she was once accepted to become a stewardess, her path led her to a life devoted to family, faith, and service.
Brenda was a devoted Christian who truly walked the walk. She loved the Lord deeply and gave Him all the credit for the blessings in her life. A faithful member of Grace Gospel Church, she poured her heart into serving—decorating and cleaning the church, teaching, and mentoring young people. She often included children in her projects, rewarding their help with small treats and warm encouragement. Brenda knew her Bible intimately; its pages were filled with highlights, notes, and prayer lists. She prayed daily for others and never missed an opportunity to share scripture and the love of Christ.
Affectionately known as "Grandma Happy" by her grandchildren, Brenda lived up to the name—always smiling, always kind, and always bringing joy to those around her. She was loving, honest, strong-willed, caring, generous, peaceful, and calm. She would truly give the shirt off her back to help someone in need.
Brenda also had a fun side—she was an avid Elvis Presley fan and had the joy of seeing him perform three times.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, David Wren; her brother, Michael Ray Higgins; and her sister-in-law, Carlean Higgins.
She is survived by her children, Jon Wren and wife, Megan, and Michael Wren and husband, Al Duckworth; her cherished grandchildren, Camryn Wren, Baylor Wren, and Isaac Wren; her brother, Craig Higgins and wife, Teresa; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will all miss her dearly.
Memorial contributions may be made in Brenda's honor to Grace Gospel Church, 278 Devine St., Jennings, OK 74038.
Brenda's life was a beautiful reflection of faith, love, and service. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched and in the unwavering example she set for her family and friends.
