Bucky Dean
Evans
Aug 28, 1962 — Dec 11, 2023
Nowata
Buck Dean Evans, known affectionately as "Buck," peacefully passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at his residence in Nowata. Born in Tulsa, on August 28, 1962, he was the beloved son of Billy Gene Evans and Mary Josephine (Graggs) Evans.
Buck's life was one marked by resilience, commitment, and an unwavering dedication to those he held dear. He began his journey by undergoing National Guard Basic Training, embodying a spirit of service and duty. His formative years were spent in the nurturing embrace of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sand Springs, OK, where he cultivated a strong foundation of faith.
As a Charles Page High School student, Buck's passion for football shone brightly on the field. Post-education, he ventured into the workforce, contributing his skills to a factory, specializing in coating. However, his greatest devotion lay in caring for his mother, always standing by her side as a pillar of support.
Buck's career path meandered through various avenues, from crafting awnings with his brothers in Rogers, Arkansas, UPS in South Padre, Texas, to construction work alongside his son, Cameron.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Buck found solace and joy in life's simple pleasures. An avid outdoorsman, he reveled in the tranquility of hunting and fishing, finding peace amidst nature's beauty. His love for sports, particularly football, found its zenith when cheering for the OU Sooners. Buck's diverse interests extended to the leisurely pursuit of shooting pool, a pastime that brought him joy and camaraderie. He often found delight in the strategic play and friendly competition around the pool table, sharing laughter and cherished moments with friends and family in these spirited games.
In the tapestry of his life, Buck cherished friendships, none more so than with his lifelong best friend, James McGee. His unique spirit was a blend of determination, humor, and an unwavering capacity for love, which radiated through his interactions with family and friends.
Buck leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. He is survived by his son, Cameron Evans, and wife Callie Ohnemus of Tulsa, and a loving constellation of grandchildren: Leah Evans and husband Noah Daczewitz of Sand Springs, Brooklyn Evans of Sand Springs, Camdyn Evans of Tulsa, Chloe Gomez of Tulsa, Alayna Gomez of Tulsa, and Kailey Gomez of Tulsa.
He is also survived by his sisters: Elisa Kious and husband Larry, Starlett Evans, Cynthia Smith, and his brothers, David and Donnie Evans.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Buck's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Zion Community Church in Tulsa. Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Monday, at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa. Visitation hours are scheduled from 12-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, with a special time for family and friends to gather from 4-6 p.m. These arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Buck's memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, love, and unwavering spirit will continue to inspire and guide those whose lives he touched.
