Ernest James "Bull" Russ departed this life on Friday, August 27, 2021, at St. John Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 82. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Friday, September 3, at Woodland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 8-10 a.m., Friday morning at the funeral home.
Bull was born October 2, 1938, in Lawton, where he attended school. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. Bull married Ruth May Sutton in Lawton, MO, and gained six daughters that he helped raise. They were also blessed with two daughters, Nancy and Tracy. They separated after 20 years of marriage. In 1982, he married Margaret Sue "Susie" Russ in Tulsa, and gained his daughter, Sandra. Bull loved life itself, and was always happy. He had his ornery side as well, and was a regular jokester. He worked hard, and often said, "Work ain't hard if you know what you're doing.". In his spare time he enjoyed watching football, westerns, and NASCAR. He also enjoyed playing football parlet cards, going to yard sales and flea markets, fishing, collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia, as well as going to the casino every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Susie in 2004; his parents; and sister, Dorothy Torres.
Survivors include his daughters: Nancy Graham and husband, Chris, Tracy Gaines and husband, Mitch, and Sandra Carner and husband, Jimmy; 6 step-daughters; significant other, Charlotte Chronister; grandchildren: Megan Jones, Trent Graham, and Aaron, Julie, Jennifer, Jimmy Carner, Candace Lewis; great-grandchildren: Mackenzie and Blakelee; and a legacy of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
