Carolyn Virginia (Murphree) Parks Hughes, 80, of Sand Springs passed away peacefully on Friday August 12, 2022, in Sand Springs.

Carolyn's service arrangements are entrusted to Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service.

She was born to G B and Mary Wilma (Kruger) Murphree,  in Durant, OK on August 26, 1941.  Carolyn graduated from Durant High School and moved to the Sand Springs area with her family when her dad worked on the construction of the Keystone Dam.  She met the love of her life, John Albert Parks, and they were married on March 15, 1962 in Sand Springs.  Carolyn worked at Frank Whitney Company, JCPenney and later retired from Avis Car Rental as a rental agent.

They were members of Olivet Baptist Church up to Johns passing on October 5, 1994.

Carolyn later married Denzil Kenneth Hughes and they attended Tulsa Baptist Temple until his death on March 30, 2014.  Carolyn then attended Olivet Baptist once again.

Carolyn loved her dachshunds, Phoebe and Brandy, and loved watching the hummingbirds attracted to her feeders.  She loved to travel. She played the piano for many years in the churches she attended.  She loved playing the old gospel songs.

Survivors include her son, Scott Parks (Liz); daughter Lisa Dawn Keiter (Dave); brothers, Alan Murphree (Donna), Doug Murphree (Ginger); sister, Wanda Killingsworth (Brad); seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Breshears, Cassie Keiffer, Emily Sowards, Gracie Keiter, Kyle Parks, Abigail Parks, Chance Parks; great grandchildren, Peyton Keiffer, Kambree Parker, James Breshears and Sutton Parks.

Visitation will be held on Thursday August 18 at Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service from 5 p.m. til 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Friday August 19, 2022 at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.
