Catalina
Harris
Feb 2, 1960 — Oct 20, 2024
Sand Springs
Catalina Vasquez de Harris entered her heavenly home on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the age of 64. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs. Catalina was born on February 2, 1960, in Manialtepec, Oaxaca, Mexico, the fourth of nine children born to Lauro Vasquez Ramirez and Felicitas Jimenez Blas. As a child, she moved to Puerto Escondido, where she would live for most of her adult life until she met her husband, Ernest Lynn Harris. From a young age, Catalina ran a taco stand near her family's home.
Catalina met Ernest while he was traveling in Mexico, and the two quickly bonded over fishing. Catalina loved how kind Ernest was to her family, always showing warmth and generosity to her cousins. She knew Ernest was special when her father's dogs, including his most beloved, Guardian, began following Ernest around instead of staying at home. They married in 1992 and later moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, before eventually making their home in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Catalina had a passion for gardening and yard work, cultivating beautiful flower gardens and plants. She was a devoted caretaker of her animals and found joy in cooking. Catalina was known for her sweet, loving, and caring nature, always offering a warm smile and cheerful demeanor, even when she wasn't feeling her best. Her strength, bravery, and tireless work ethic were evident to all who knew her.
Catalina is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; a sister and two brothers who passed away at a young age; sisters: Margarita Vasquez Jimenez and Elena Vasquez Jimenez; and brother Jesus Vasquez Jimenez. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Jones and her husband Thomas of Sand Springs; her brother, Rufino Vasquez Jimenez; and her sister, Emilia Vasquez Jimenez. Catalina is also remembered by her beloved pets: her dogs, Belky and Chiquita; her cats, Buddy and Brekkie; and her bird, Cher.
Catalina's gentle spirit, unwavering love, and joyful presence will be dearly missed by her family and all who were blessed to know her.
