Don was a devoted Christian man whose faith guided his life.

Charles Donald "Don" Bennett, 88, entered his heavenly home on Monday, October 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family he cherished and after a life marked by faith, devotion, hard work, and laughter. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, at the Jim Groesbeck Memorial Chapel at Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service with Pastor Steve Loveless officiating. Military honors will be presented by the United States Army. Viewing will be held at the funeral home 12-8 p.m., Wednesday, with family greeting friends 5-7 p.m.

Don was born on June 20, 1938, in Corning, Arkansas, to Roy Edwin Bennett and Lillie E. (Hicks) Bennett. He attended Roosevelt School and graduated from Sand Springs High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army and later in the National Guard.

On April 27, 1957, Don married the love of his life, Beverly June Lafferty, in the office of Lawnwood Free Will Baptist Church when it was located on Charles Page Boulevard. Their love story began long before their wedding day, as they were high school sweethearts who grew up together and built a beautiful life side by side. Together they shared nearly seven decades of marriage, raising their family in the same Tulsa home where many treasured memories were made and where their roots remain today.

More important than what Don built with his hands was what he built with his heart.

Don first worked as a machinist before finding his true calling in carpentry. A proud member of Carpenters Union Local 943, he spent his career helping shape and build Oklahoma's landscape. His craftsmanship could be found in numerous commercial projects throughout the area, including work at Utica Square, the Williams Center, and many other remodeling and construction projects. He took great pride in a job well done and in leaving behind something lasting for future generations.

More important than what Don built with his hands was what he built with his heart. He was a devoted Christian man whose faith guided his life. He was a longtime member of Mannford Friendship Community Church for 36 years before becoming a faithful member of Lawnwood Free Will Baptist Church, where he worshiped for 21 years.

Don was a loving husband, a wonderful father and father-in-law, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a loyal friend. He was known for his quick wit, playful sense of humor, and talent for making people smile. A true jokester, he enjoyed keeping those around him laughing. He also had a passion for collecting unique treasures and was endlessly curious about the world. He loved learning and spent countless hours watching educational courses and documentaries. His family often joked that he should have earned a degree from all the Great Courses he and Beverly enjoyed together.

Traveling was one of Don's greatest joys. He and Beverly explored many corners of the world, with Greece holding a special place among their favorite destinations. Whether it was an overseas adventure or a spontaneous road trip, Don loved seeing new places and creating memories with the people he loved most.
