Chester Len Smith departed this life on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at St. John Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 88. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, October 29, at Landmark Tabernacle with his nephew, Jeff Schwickerath, and Pastor Randy Perry officiating. Chester will be laid to rest at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home 12-8 p.m., Thursday, and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.

The son of Jessie Noble Smith and Lucy (Hudspeth) Smith was born March 6, 1933, in Marble, AR. He lived in Keystone and Mannford, before moving to Sand Springs. In 1952, he graduated from Sand Springs High School. After high school, he went to work for Stanley Home, the cotton mill, and the box factory. He later went to work for 28 years at Sheffield Steel Company. He also tried his hand in the car business selling used cars with his brother, Lester.

Chester's passion and love was trading. He was a full-time trader and loved to make deals. When he wasn't selling watches and jewelry to his co-workers, his life revolved around his Saturday's at the flea market for over 18 years. He sold watches, knives, glassware or anything that was popular at that time. His family knew not to schedule funerals or weddings on Saturday's because he would not be there. While running his booth at the flea market he became acquainted with Hallie June (Bradstreet) McCoy who sold concessions. They became inseparable and married on December 22, 1989, in their home.

Chester was a hard worker and a strong man with a great work ethic. He was always impeccably dressed, adorned with watches and rings. While building his home he cut all the trees down with a hatchet, and built the pond by himself. He always had a big garden and shared extra vegetables with family and friends. He will be remembered as a quiet and gentle man.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Lester and Terry Smith, and an infant brother; sisters: Tina Parks, Eva Jean Holt, and Etterine Harveston; and step-daughter, Stephanie Fullhart.

Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Hallie; children: Sandra Duck (Eddy), Gary Smith (Candy), and Kevin Smith (Sandra) all of Sand Springs; step-sons: Robert Burrell of Sand Springs, Michael Burrell of Okmulgee, and Jeffrey McCoy of Tulsa; brother, Lonnie Smtih (Donna) of Westville ; sisters: Claudine Cox of Sand Springs, Carolyn Schwickerath of Sapulpa, Christine Hogner of Sand Springs; sister-in-law, Lois Smith of Haskell; grandchildren: Mike, Holly, Kelly, Kassy, Brandee, Julie, Bobby, Brendon, Sara; a legacy of great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandson, River.

Memorial contributions may be made to Miracles of Faith, 5140 S 194th East Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74014.
