Danny Lavern
Estep
Aug 14, 1947 — May 23, 2023
Terlton
Danny Lavern Estep entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the age of 75. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, May 27, at Freedom Ministries with Pastor Sonny Moody officiating. A graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m., Friday, October 13, at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army.
Danny was born on August 14, 1947, in Nevada, Missouri, to Earnest McClellan Estep and Elsie Irene (Warner) Estep. Danny proudly served our country as a soldier in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While serving he stepped on a land mine and would not awaken for 1 year, 4 months, and 4 days. He was moved from Vietnam to Texas to the Muskogee VA Hospital where he became conscious again.
While attending Pastor Sonny Moody's church, Danny met the love of his life, Juanita Maxine Gillett. They were married on July 7, 2003 and made their home on their farm in Terlton. Danny often helped tend to the newly born goats by holding them on his lap and drying them off. He enjoyed bowling in his younger days, and took every opportunity available to go catfish fishing. His favorite spot was at Frog Rock close to his home. Danny was a faithful Christian, and member of Freedom Ministries.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and children: Robin Jefferson and Robert Estep.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 20 years, Juanita Estep; sisters: Pat Averys, Marcie Still, and Debbie Estep; and granddaughters: Heather, Heaven Marie Estep, and Courtney Sunshine Estep.
