In Loving Memory of Delorus Irene Crawford

Delorus Irene Crawford, 56, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, entered heaven on November 25th, 2023. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on August 27, 1967, and spent her formative years in Everton, Missouri, before moving to Oklahoma at the age of 13.

Delorus attended Sapulpa High School, where her passion for both basketball and academics shone brightly. She excelled both on the court and in the classroom. Later in life, she worked diligently at UPC and the Maynard Ungerman Law Firm, often juggling two or even three jobs while putting herself through law school at Tulsa University. In the year 2000, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in science and her law degree. Delorus faced the Bar with determination, and, with the occasional guidance of binge-watching Judge Judy, she succeeded.

As an attorney for Tulsa County, Delorus devoted her career to advocating for children who could not represent or speak for themselves. Her passion and dedication to making their lives better were evident in every case she took on.

Beyond her professional life, Delorus was a loving and dedicated mother to her son, Christian. The depth of her love for him was immeasurable, and she often expressed that it made her heart ache. Delorus enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, relishing in the outdoors, tending to her yard and garden, and imparting the wisdom of growing their own food to Christian.

Delorus was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother, and stepfather Virginia and Curtis Poindexter, as well as her father Harold Crawford. She is survived by her siblings Cheryl Johnson and her children Daniel, Amanda, and Rachel, Charles Johnson and his children Josh, Jason, and Brittney, and Clarissa Thornton and her children Ashley and Michael.

On November 25th, 2023, a light in this world went out. Delorus, fondly known as Dee, guided many and brightened more lives than can be recounted. Her love was more profound than she realized, and her departure has left a void in the hearts of many. Delorus will be deeply missed, but the love and memories she shared will continue to live on. We find solace in knowing that we will see her again.
