Derrick Ryan
Gurley
Apr 5, 1989 — Apr 23, 2024
Sand Springs
Derrick Ryan Gurley, a cherished son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, left this world unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. He was 35 years old.
Born on April 5, 1989, in Lakenheath, England, Derrick brought warmth and joy into the lives of his parents, Larry N. Gurley and Rebecca K. (Broam) Davis. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Derrick's journey through life was marked by a deep love for his family, a passion for his work, and an adventurous spirit that touched everyone he encountered. After attending Cleveland High School and earning his GED in 2016, Derrick embarked on a fulfilling career, first at Spears Auto and later at Global Industrial. His dedication and expertise were evident in every task he undertook, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Outside of work, Derrick found solace and joy in his many interests and hobbies. He was a familiar face at Lake Church in Mannford, where he found strength and community in his faith. Derrick was a skilled mechanic with a love for all things automotive, spending countless hours tinkering with vehicles and machinery. His passion for motorcycles was matched only by his love for the open road, where he felt most alive and free. He also cherished quiet moments spent fishing, finding peace and serenity by the water's edge, and enjoyed the companionship of his loyal dog, Buster.
Those who knew Derrick best remember him for his infectious laughter, his boundless generosity, and his unwavering loyalty. He had a knack for bringing light into any room, his big laugh echoing long after he was gone. Whether day or night, Derrick could always be counted on for a helping hand or a listening ear, his large cup of Dr. Pepper in hand as he tackled life's challenges with a smile.
Above all else, Derrick treasured the time he spent with his three beloved children: Lilian, Christopher, and Harper. Their love brought him immense joy and fulfillment, and he cherished every moment they shared together. Derrick's love knew no bounds, extending to his parents, Larry and Debra Gurley, and Rebecca and Jack Davis; his siblings, Paisley Stephens and husband Cory, Samantha Griffith, and Joshua Gurley; and his nieces and nephews: Kaden, Cahner, Meredith and Colt. Derrick was preceded in death by his nephew, Wyatt, and cousin, Brandon.
In the hearts of those who knew him, Derrick's memory will forever be cherished. Though he may be gone, his spirit lives on in the laughter, love, and memories he leaves behind.
A memorial service to celebrate Derrick's life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 6, at Lake Church, Mannford. Arrangements to honor Derrick's life are entrusted to the compassionate care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
As we grieve the loss of Derrick, let us also celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives and the legacy of love he leaves behind. May his spirit continue to guide us, and may we find comfort in the cherished memories we shared with him.
Rest in peace, dear Derrick. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
