Donald Ray Downey entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Porta Caeli House, Tulsa, at the age of 91. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Monday, August 14, at Olivet Baptist Church, Tulsa, with Pastor Scott Palmer officiating.

Don was born September 9, 1931, in Tulsa to Henry and Leona Downey. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-54. In 1954, Don married the love of his life, Barbara Kapple. Don was a retired electrical engineer, and loved to coach wrestling and read. He was a faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church since 1975, and served as a Deacon for many years.

Don is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara; son, Craig Downey; and his parents.

Don is survived by his sons: Randall and Stephen Downey; one grandchild; brother-in-law, Bill Williams; nephew, Eric Kapple; and adopted sister, Janice Helt.
