Don was born on January 7th, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa in 1962 and continued his education by obtaining a law degree from Citrus Belt Law School in Riverside, California. Don's career was a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit, marked by diverse successes in sales and as the proud owner-operator of P.J. Newberry Office Supply. He followed college football and basketball with great enthusiasm, finding joy in the games, regardless of the teams competing.

Don's love story with Pat began at the University of Tulsa, where they first met. In 1964, they were united in marriage at Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church. Together, they built a family and shared a lifetime of cherished memories.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Jean Newberry, and their two sons, Tulsa County Court Clerk, Don Newberry and wife, Christa; Senator Dan Newberry and wife, Laura; and daughters, Misty Basey and husband, Larry, Jinny Enkey and husband David. Don leaves behind a legacy of fifteen grandchildren: Austin Donoho, Kagen Donoho, Daniel Newberry, Heidi Davis, Seth Fry, Claire Newberry, Paige Newberry, Alex Newberry, Eva Newberry, William Enkey, David Andrew Enkey, Sparrow Enkey, Michael Enkey, Ivory Enkey, and Buddy James.
