Dorothy Edwards
Tuley
Jan 29, 1927 — May 10, 2025
Sand Springs
Dorothy Lee (Edwards) Tuley passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday May 10, 2025, at the age of 98. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Funeral services to honor her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, at Carbondale Assembly of God with Rev. Phil Taylor officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Woodland Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born on January 29, 1927, to her parents Henry and Maude Porter, the third of fifteen children, in Hoffman, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, by Bill Edwards her husband of 43 years, Joe Tuley her husband of 32 years, her daughter Brenda (Edwards) Wynn, her son Billy Edwards, stepson Merdith Tuley and grandson Jason Wynn.
She leaves behind her son, Larry Edwards and wife Pamela, stepson Curtis Tuley and wife Kimberly, stepdaughter Ruthellen Tuley, son-in-law Owen Wynn, daughter in-law Rosie Edwards, step daughter-in-law Sherre Tuley, grandchildren Kim Hope and husband Mike, Lisa Albers and husband Glenn, Lara Burton and husband Charlie, Becky Davis and husband Alec, John Edwards and wife Janna, Brittany Rodriguez and husband Nikko, Paula Edwards and Nick Edwards, and step grandchildren Nicolas Tuley, Eric Tuley, Joseph Fanning, Jacob Tuley and Cody Tuley. Plus 14 great grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a remarkable woman, hardworking, making friends easily and always looking for ways to unabashedly tell others about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Becoming a wife and mother at an early age, she became a stay-at-home mom whose life was defined by a commitment to her family and faith.
As a dedicated homemaker, she created not just a house but a true home for her family – a place of warmth, comfort, and immaculate cleanliness, that was noticed by all who entered. Her hands were rarely idle, whether tending to her garden where plants flourished under her care, preparing delicious meals that nourished both body and soul, or keeping her house in perfect order.
Music was the language of her heart, and she was always ready with a song, primarily hymns of praise. It was rare to visit Dorothy without getting a song.
When she was younger and attending the Verndale Church of God of Prophecy, she was a tireless worker in the church, from orchestrating the baking of hundreds of delicious pies for the church building fund, to serving as Sunday School Superintendent, Song Leader and Sunday School Teacher. Later in life and attending Carbondale Assembly of God with Joe, she would say she was getting payback by finally being able to slow down and just enjoy making new friends and sitting under the great preaching of Pastor Phil Taylor.
Among the great friends Dorothy made at Carbondale was Alice Fuller, who she often would say was "the Lord's angel sent to her to help her in her old age". With Joe's passing in 2019, Alice, facing her own personal loss, became Dorothy's closest friend and toward the end of her life, and without anyone ever asking, her constant caregiver. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude and thanks to Alice, truly an
angel, for being there for Dorothy all the way to the end.
Dorothy's passing leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones and friends and the countless individuals whose lives she touched. However, we all find peace in knowing she has entered heaven's gates, with her Savior saying, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
