The daughter of Gordon Maxwell Atkins and Georgia Dorothy (Doyle) Atkins was born June 9, 1947, in Van Nuys, California. Dru married Joe Valdez and they were blessed with two sons, Bryan and Kevin. Dru worked as a paramedic in Los Angeles County before coming to Oklahoma and where she held the position as a Deputy Sheriff in Bryan County with incredible pride. Dru believed in working hard and had many careers, including being a hair stylist, working in the service industry and as a medical transcriptionist. Dru shared her strong work ethic and love of music with her sons that she raised as a single parent. Dru later married Jimmy Larner in Eureka Springs, AR with whom she enjoyed traveling. Dru enjoyed playing piano, crocheting, reading, and spending precious time with her family and friends. She also had a special place in her heart for all animals and her pets, including two cats Charlie, Blackie and one dog, Popeye. Dru was joyfully awaiting the birth of a new great-grandchild to join her great granddaughter, Charlotte.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; parents, Gordon and Georgia Atkins; and sister, Sally Jo McClure.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Larner; sons: Bryan Valdez and wife, Misty of Alvord, TX, and Kevin Valdez of Sand Springs; granddaughters: Megan and Mikayla; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte as well as many beloved relatives and friends.
