Burial will follow at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy. Visitation will take place Monday 12pm to 8pm and Tuesday 9am to 8pm at the funeral home.

Earl was born on October 31, 1925, in Russellville, Arkansas, to Edward Everette Hill and Edna Ida (Lay) Hill, later Hixson. Earl grew up in Paris, Arkansas, in a large and lively family that included his nine siblings. From those early years, Earl carried with him a strong work ethic and a deep sense of love for his large family that would define his life.

A proud Veteran, Earl eagerly served six-and-a-half years in the United States Navy during World War II. Earl concluded his Navy service in 1946 as a Shipfitter 3rd Class. Following his service years, he built a career as a welder and maintenance man, eventually retiring in 1985 from Fibercast in Sand Springs. He was a man who could fix anything, often working quietly and skillfully with his hands, always willing to lend help when needed.

While dining at People's Cafe in Paris, AR, Earl met the love of his life, Vera Virginia Baker. On February 8, 1947, Earl and Vera were married in the parsonage living room of the First Baptist Church. Earl cherished and adored Vera. Together they raised two daughters, Brenda Sue and Virginia Gail. Earl and Vera were married SEVENTY sweetly devoted years before Vera's passing in 2017.

Earl gave his life to Christ and became a faithful Christian. He was a longtime member of Lawnwood Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. His faith became steady and that was evident in the way he lived. Earl found extraordinary joy in worshiping and fellowshipping with his church family.

Known for being a man of few words, Earl's presence spoke volumes. He was a jolly, gentle, but strong man and had a quiet way of showing his love and support. Earl was also the best kind of ornery, and a natural comedian. He loved being able to brighten everyone's day.

Earl's most well-known hobby was gardening. He was especially gifted at growing beautiful flowers, roses being his favorite. Later in life, Earl found joy in the simple things like looking out the window at the birds and cars, watching old western movies, and eating delicious meals with his family and friends. Earl treasured spending time with those he loved. His denim overalls were his trademark outfit, and his Thanksgiving turkey was a cherished family tradition.

On his 100th birthday, Earl was honored as a member of the Centenarians of Oklahoma. A testament to his long and meaningful life, a life that saw numerous innovations and changes. He navigated those changes with curiosity and used them as an opportunity to continue learning.

Earl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera Hill; his grandson, John Earl Blansett; his parents Edward and Edna; his stepfather, Roy Hixson; his twin brother, Burl Hill; and siblings: Helen Hill Patterson, Harley Hill, Robert Hill, Harlena Hill Legg, and Roy Gordon Hixson.
