Apr 24, 1929 — Jan 12, 2024
Sand Springs
EdraGene Jones, a beloved matriarch and long-time resident of Sand Springs, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family. The arrangements for her final farewell are entrusted to the compassionate care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Born on April 24, 1929, in Sand Springs to Aaron Keehn and Dora (Lytle) Keehn, EdraGene's early life was marked by resilience and sacrifice. Growing up on the line, she left school to assist in supporting her family, working alongside her mother at Stanley Homes. It was through a friend that she met Ferliegh "Buck" Jones, whom she married on January 23, 1948, in Tulsa. Together, they embarked on a journey of love and commitment, raising their six children in Sand Springs and living in the same home for an impressive 67 years.
EdraGene was a dedicated homemaker, known for her unwavering discipline, nurturing heart, and the occasional grounding or gentle whip when needed. She actively participated in her children's lives, attending band activities with her daughter and creating a loving and stable home for her family. Despite the demands of having six children in just 10 years, EdraGene's kindness, beauty, and sweetness shone through in every aspect of her life.
A creative spirit, EdraGene found joy in crafting beaded bracelets, which she generously shared as gifts. She also enjoyed the mental stimulation of solving crossword puzzles and the simple pleasure of coloring books. Her sharp mind remained a testament to her vibrant spirit until the very day she departed.
EdraGene had a deep appreciation for the beauty in life, regularly receiving and cherishing flowers. She took pride in maintaining her appearance, enjoying regular visits to have her hair fixed. Holidays were a special time for her, as she relished spending them with her children and extended family, creating lasting memories filled with love and joy.
In addition to her husband, Buck, EdraGene was preceded in death by her son, Terry Jones, daughter-in-law, Angie Jones, her parents, and her siblings: Robert "Bob" Keehn, Maurice "Bud" Keehn, Marilyn Settle, and Molly "Cotton" Colbert. She is survived by her children: Robert Jones and wife, Sue of Clifton, TN, Teresa Guthrie of Sand Springs, Curtis Jones and wife, Lorinda of Sand Springs, Rhonda Carol Maness and husband, Steve of Mustang, Gary Jones of Jenks, and Brandy Wooten of Sand Springs. Her sister, Dolores "Babe" Owens of Broken Arrow, also survives her.
EdraGene leaves behind a legacy in her grandchildren: Kim Denny, Angie Williams, Andrea Padgett and husband, Craig, Heather Guthrie, Curtis Lee Jones and wife, Stephanie Collins, Carrie Garrison and husband, Scott, Melissa Inge and husband, Rudi, Michael Jones, Justin Biggs and wife, Lara, Kacy McIntosh, and Jaden Jones and wife, Amber. Additionally, she is survived by 12 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
EdraGene Jones will be remembered for her kind heart, enduring beauty, and the sweetness that radiated from within. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her love, wisdom, and gentle spirit. May she rest in eternal peace.
