Edward Romer
Ladner
May 21, 1938 — May 31, 2025
Sand Springs
Edward Romer Ladner of Beggs, Oklahoma, passed peacefully from this life Saturday, May 31, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 21, 1938, in Caesar, Mississippi to Paul Byron Ladner and Candace (Dossett) Ladner.
He met and fell in love with Joyce Davis at the Air Force base in Enid and on September 23, 1959, they were married. Ed and Joyce had three children: Debbie, Carol and Byron. He was himself one of 4 children, and Ed was deeply devoted to his family. A veteran of the US Air Force, he worked as a truck driver for Don Eaton then transitioned to a career as a talented finish carpenter. He was a faithful member of the Sand Springs Church of the Nazarene then later the Sapulpa Church of the Nazarene where he enjoyed worshipping with his daughter and her family. He loved fishing, hunting and the outdoors, but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always kind and patient, he found joy in teaching them how to fish, helping out with home projects, frying up some crappie, watching classic westerns, and just spending time with those he loved. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Ladner, parents Paul and Candace Ladner, daughter Carol Ladner and siblings Judy, Pauline, and Shirley (Ladner).
He is survived by his daughter Debbie Martin and Debbie's husband Phil, son Byron Ladner, four grandchildren – Johnathan Martin, Jarod Martin and wife Kaitlin, Joy Fritz and husband Jonathan, and Anna (Shyanne) Martin; 5 great grandchildren – Kaylee Fritz, Cara Fritz, Aidan Fritz, Eleanor Martin and Ayla Martin, plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
A funeral service celebrating Ed's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Sapulpa Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Brady Thelander officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, Oklahoma. Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 3, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present to greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
