Edward B.
Van Arsdale Jr.
Nov 22, 1930 — Apr 12, 2025
Tulsa
Edward B. Van Arsdale, Jr. 94 years of age, of Tulsa, OK, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 12, 2025.
Edward was born on November 22, 1930, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He was one of six children born to Edward and Beulah (Thomas) Van Arsdale. He graduated from Sapulpa High School and then joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after an injury to his knee.
In 1954, Edward married the love of his life, Zona Gayle Newell. Shortly thereafter they moved to the Berryhill community in Tulsa County where they lived for over 65 years. Born to that union were two daughters, Beverly Ann and Reva Kay.
Edward spent his entire career in the oil industry. He retired, after 25 years of service, from Texaco Refining and Marketing. Then he went to work at Sun Oil for another 10 years and retired. In his spare time, he was a carpenter and a master wood carver. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing, boating and the company of family pets over the years; most recently Kay's yorkie "Henry". While living on Skidaway Island, Georgia, with his daughter Beverly, they would daily take her dog Rocky to the dog park in a golf cart. He enjoyed spending time with his extended "Newell" family. He dearly loved Zona's parents, Art and Delma Newell.
Edward loved the Lord. He could be found, daily, at the kitchen table studying his Bible and preparing for the upcoming Sunday School lesson. For many years, Edward was a Deacon at Allen Free Will Baptist Church. He later served as Captain and bus driver for Central Assembly of God in Tulsa. He loved Christian music and most recently could be found watching Christian television at Forest Hills where he lived the last remaining eight months. Edward was a kind and gentle soul. He was lovingly referred to as "Saint Edward" by his extended family.
Edward was proceeded in death by his wife, Zona Gayle of 68 years; daughter Beverly Ann Williams; his parents; and four brothers and sisters, Harold, Glenna, Peggy and Guy.
Edward is survived by his daughter Reva Kay Van Arsdale of Tulsa; sister Gib Livingston of Bartlesville; sister-in-law Linda Newell of Tulsa; brother-in-law Charlie Newell of Lincoln, KS; and sister-in-law Jean B. Newell of Rockport, Tx. In addition, many nieces and nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the staff at Heatheridge Assisted Living; Forest Hills Assisted Living and Amedisys Hospice. A special thanks to Chaplain Josh; Nurses Matt, Jane, and Marla of Amedisys for all the care and kindness extended to Edward and Kay. Kay wishes to extend her sincere thanks to her church family and friends for their loving concern and prayers during this most difficult time.
