Emma Jamison Rice Truitt Perkins
May 5, 1927 – November 24, 2025

Emma Jean Perkins, age 98, of Sand Springs, OK, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025. She was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the first daughter of Willis and Grace Jamison.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Norwood, Gene, Perry, Bethel, Harvey, Marie, Ed, and Dessie. She is survived by siblings J.D., Willie, Jim, Donna, and Dorene.

Emma was married for 25 years to Don Rice and is survived by their four children: Dorothy (Ken) Holloway, Margie Williams, Larry Rice, and Tom (Regina) Rice. She was a proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was later widowed by her second husband, David Truitt, and by her former husband, E.P. Perkins.

Emma loved gardening, growing flowers, watching hummingbirds at her feeders, and even nurturing a wild, scruffy fox back to health. She cherished Wednesday breakfast outings with her son Tom and rarely turned down an invitation for ribs, fried okra, or ice cream.

Independent-minded and deeply devoted to her family, Emma enjoyed gatherings at the Senior Citizens Center and the VFW. She was especially known for her famous sweet potato casserole and chicken salad.

At age twelve, Emma trusted Jesus as her Savior at Oak Grove School/Church in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was baptized in the Illinois River near Hix Cemetery. Emma has now entered her eternal rest, rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.
