Eunice Lorene

Dec 9, 1931 — Sep 5, 2026
Sand Springs
Her faith was at the center of who she was.
Eunice Lorene Patterson entered her heavenly home on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the age of 94. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, at Calvary Heights Temple Church in Tulsa, with Dr. Gaylen Claunch officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the funeral home Thursday 12-8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Eunice was born on December 9, 1931, in Mulberry, Kansas, to William Harvey Claunch and Grace Theresa (Loftis) Claunch. She grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico, where she would meet the love of her life, Raymond Huey Patterson, Sr.
Raymond was in Hobbs building a house when Eunice first caught his attention. She would walk by, and before long, Raymond was taking notice of the young woman who seemed to keep appearing in his path. Their story grew into a lifetime of love. Eunice and Raymond were married on May 11, 1952, in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Eunice loved people.
The couple lived in Hobbs and Stilwell, Oklahoma, before making their home in Sand Springs, where they raised their family. They were longtime members of Calvary Heights Temple Church in Tulsa, a church that became an important part of Eunice’s life. Her faith was at the center of who she was. She served as a church secretary until her retirement in 2020 and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years.
Eunice also had a special gift for music. She was a self-taught pianist who could sit down at the piano and simply play "like it was nobody's business." Her music was a beautiful part of her life and her service to her church.
She found joy in the simple things: crocheting, reading, watching television, Bible study, and spending time reading her Bible. She loved writing letters and sending greeting cards to family and friends, always taking the time to let people know she was thinking about them.
Above all, Eunice loved people. She was a devoted Christian and, as her family affectionately described her, a true little church lady. She had a way of making everyone feel like family. She was a stepmom to many of her children's friends while they were growing up and became "Grandma" to countless people who were blessed to know her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart, and she loved nothing more than spoiling them.
Her life was a testament to the beauty of faithfulness—to her family, her church, and the people God placed in her life.
Eunice will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong faith, love of music, handwritten cards and letters, and the way she made people feel welcomed and loved. Her life was a testament to the beauty of faithfulness—to her family, her church, and the people God placed in her life.
Eunice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond; her son, Roger Patterson; her parents, William and Grace Claunch; and her siblings, Chrystol Edmonson, Goldine Latta, Fern Claunch, William H. Claunch, Jr., Joseph D. Claunch, Paul E. Claunch, Kenneth L. Claunch, and James H. Claunch.
She is survived by her children, Carol Freeman and husband, Robert, and Raymond H. Patterson, Jr. and wife, Penny; her grandchildren: Brock Fleming and wife, Ashley, Robyn Cagle and husband, David, Blake Fleming and wife Shaunna, Jessica Fleming and husband, Damon, R.J. Freeman and wife, Hailey, Zac Freeman, Jennifer Bryan, Scott Zimmer and wife, Brittney, Cody Zimmer, and Kenzie Zimmer; numerous great-grandchildren: Kylee Edwards and husband, Joey, Kaitlyn Crockett, Gauge Fleming, Hayden Fleming, Blaze Fleming, Sean Patrick McIntire, Leland McIntire, Abigail McIntire, Evie Freeman, Gus Scholta, Rose Freeman, Lexi Zimmer, Tyler Zimmer, Cason Zimmer, and Ollie Curtis; and great-great-grandson, Joey Gordon "George" Edwards, Jr.
Eunice leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, music, and love. She will be deeply missed, but those who knew and loved her can find comfort knowing that she is now home with her Lord and reunited with the loved ones who went before her.
