Evelyn (Hoes) Douglas departed this life on Tuesday morning, January 11, 2022, at her home at the age of 90. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Mannford.

The daughter of Louis and Ella (Stark) Hoes was born January 12, 1931, in Rowena, TX. Her childhood was spent in St. Angelo, TX. Her parents were cotton farmers, and from an early age Evelyn helped in the fields. She was introduced to OL Douglas by mutual friends; and were married on March 5, 1949, in St. Angelo. After a couple of years, they made their home on a small farm in the Pleasant Valley area of Sand Springs. Once their four children were old enough, Evelyn went to work with Kerr Glass where she rose through the ranks to become a supervisor for the last ten years of her career. Evelyn and OL enjoyed traveling to many places together including Las Vegas and Padre Island. Evelyn also enjoyed making ceramics, crocheting, and spending time at the casino. She was a strong woman that made sure no one took advantage of her. She dearly loved her family, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, OL in 2018; daughter, Karen Bradbury; her parents; and brother, Eldean Hoes.

Survivors include her sons: Harold Douglas of Sand Springs, Vestle Chris Douglas of Glenpool, and Louis Michael Douglas of Mannford; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
