Florine "Flo" Hummingbird Brooks, passed away on Saturday November 16, 2024, at her home in Afton, OK at the age of 80. Flo went peacefully with her family by her side.

Flo was born on February 10, 1944, to her parents Dick Hummingbird and Flora Elizabeth (McKinzie) Hummingbird, in Stillwell, OK.

Flo went to Senaca Indian School for Children in Wyondotte, OK up until the 8th grade, then for her 9th grade year she went to Sequoyah School located in Tahlequah, OK, and for her 10th grade year she finished her studies at Cave Springs located near Stillwell, OK where she loved playing basketball. Flo then left school after her 10th grade year and married, Joe Coon Jr., where they had 3 lovely daughters, Carmaleta Coon, Helenia Rusher and Charlene Coon. Flo and Joe were married for 10 years. Then Flo met her husband of 54 Years, Kenneth Ray Brooks. When Ken saw Flo, he was instantly mesmerized with her beauty. In Ken's eyes, Flo was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. They were married on April 23, 1970, and had one daughter Kimberly Hughes.

Flo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a friend to all. Flo loved to cook, do canning, and travel. Her greatest passion was fishing, oh how she loved to fish. Ken did not like fishing against her as she would always catch more than he did. In the early days Flo would sew her daughters clothing. Flo made sure her family had everything they needed.

Flo is survived by her husband Ken of 54 years, 3 daughters, Carmaleta Coon, Helenia (Scooter) Rusher, and Kim Hughes; 2 sisters, Louise Carr and Lucille Cane; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Flo was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Flora Hummingbird; 7 brothers, Roy, Richard, Wesley, Leonard, Ed, Walter, Mack; 5 sisters, Lottie, Nancy, Jewel, Joanne, Tarzanthia; 1 daughter, Charlene Coon; and 1 great-grandson, Wesley Parson.

Flo will be missed by many and was deeply loved by all.
