Frank Russell
Blair
Apr 18, 1939 — May 4, 2025
Glenpool
Frank Russell Blair passed from this life on May 4, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on April 18, 1939, Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was marked by service, humor, and a deep love for family.
He married the love of his life, Judith Ann Rill, on October 26, 1962. Together, they spent 62 wonderful years raising two sons and building a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. Frank was a devoted and active member of Calvary Temple in Tulsa, always willing to lend a hand wherever needed. He served in many roles, including stagehand and prop designer, van driver for shut-in members, Royal Rangers leader, and long-time usher. On one occasion, while working on a church building project, the scaffold he was standing on collapsed. He escaped uninjured, attributing his survival to God's protection and his belief that he had nine lives.
Frank graduated from Collinsville High School and went on to earn three degrees in aeronautics from Tulsa Junior College. He dedicated his professional life to aviation, retiring from Boeing as a Quality Control Inspector.
A dedicated patriot, Frank served his country as an intelligence officer and Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air National Guard for 29 years. His military service took him across the globe—a source of great pride. He never departed for or returned from a mission without souvenirs for his family, always keeping trade items on hand as he traveled to different countries. On one particularly memorable mission, which made the news, the aircraft he was aboard lost three of its four engines, forcing the crew to jettison cargo into the ocean, including dozens of hibachi cookers and stereo equipment.
Frank never missed a sporting event if his grandchildren were playing. He faithfully attended all of their baseball and softball games and was their number one fan. On more than one occasion, it was rumored that he would offer them a bribe if they hit a home run. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a passionate sports fan as well as an avid collector of player autographs. Known for his good nature, quick wit, and ornery charm, he brought joy and laughter to those around him. In his later years, he entertained staff and residents at the care facility where he lived by giving them nicknames and sharing his signature humor.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Judith, and leaves behind a legacy through his sons, Mark Blair and his wife Doni, and Christopher Todd Blair and his wife Shontelle. He was a proud grandfather to Travers, Preston, Rachel, Madelyn, Brittni, Cayden, Trey, and Jacob, and a cherished great-grandfather to Pierce, Levi, Kyndal, Morgan, and Jaxxson.
Frank's life was one of purpose, adventure, and joy. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.
