Gary Len Smith, passed away peacefully in his home in Sand Springs at the age of 73 on December 27th, 2025. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Gary was born on July 17th, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Chester and Betty Smith. He grew up in Sand Springs and graduated from Charles Page High School in 1970.

Gary worked his entire career for Armco Steel, later becoming Sheffield Steel. Gary retired from Sheffield after 30 plus years of service. During his time at Armco, Gary was heavily involved in competitive fast pitch softball and weightlifting, becoming a state champion heavy weightlifter. Gary also had a love for westerns and fishing. After retirement Gary managed mini storages owned by him and his wife Candy.

Gary met the love of his life, Candy Prince in grade school. They would become married in Joplin, Missouri in 1969. They chose Joplin because they were too young to be married in the state of Oklahoma. Gary and Candy were in between their Junior and Senior years of high school at this time.

Soon after graduation from high school Gary and Candy had their first child, Michael. They would continue to add to their family every two years for the next six years. Holly followed Kelly and then Kassy.

Family and friends were everything to Gary. His final days were surrounded by everything that mattered to him and the legacy that he built. His wife of 56 years, his four children and their spouses, his eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, his brother and sister, their spouses, nieces and nephews and kids and countless others that were family to him whether they were blood or not. Some of the greatest moments of his life were spent on Keystone Lake, driving a boat and pulling his kids and grandkids on skis, knee boards and tubes or parking in a cove and watching his kids and grandkids dive into the water and have the time of their lives.

Gary is survived by his wife Candy of the home. His son Michael Smith and husband Bryan Brantly of Claremore, Ok, his daughter Holly Bratcher and husband Rodney, his son Kelly Smith and wife Janet and his daughter Kassy Goodman and husband Brian, all of Sand Springs. Gary is also survived by his grandchildren, Nathan, Lexie and her husband Jarett, Beau, Luke, Audrey and her husband James, Gabby, Emma, Claire, Jack and his wife Madison, Carter and Mitchell and his great grandchildren, River, Ryan and Elly. He is also survived by his sister Sandy Duck and husband Eddy and his brother Kevin Smith and wife Sandra.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Chester Smith and his mother Betty Shuck.
