Rosella "Gay" Champion departed this life on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the age of 87. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 21, at Mobley-Groesbeck Chapel with Rev. Fred Waldrep officiating. Gay will be laid to rest at Woodland Memorial Park.

The daughter of Lloyd Rayner and Millie (Baumann) Rayner was born September 6, 1934, in Arapaho, OK. Gay played basketball for Watonga High School and graduated with the class of 1952. While working for Southwestern Bell Telephone, Gay was an integral part of the changeover from 5-digit phone numbers to our current numbers. Gay was an excellent, trustworthy boss that truly cared about each one of her co-workers and employees. She took the time to listen to each one of their problems and they knew if they came to her it would be handled with dignity and respect. Gay always made each person she came in contact with feel special, loved and unique. She retired after 32 years of dedicated service.

On July 29, 1955, Gay married Billy Melton Champion in Tulsa, and they were blessed with two daughters, Beth Ann and Misti.

Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; her parents; siblings: Glen Rayner, Ethel Deaton, and Lea Ann Boyd; and granddaughter, Denise.

She is survived by her daughters: Beth Ann Harvey and husband, Kent, and Misti Son all of Sand Springs; brother, Clyde Rayner and wife, Freida; granddaughter, Teri Harvey; and great-grandchildren: Ryan Harvey, Chloe Still, and Scotty Hobson.
