Harry Charles
Simon
Apr 29, 1963 — Oct 10, 2026
Sand Springs
Harry grew up with a strong sense of independence and determination that would remain with him throughout his life.
Harry Charles Simon entered his heavenly home on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the age of 63. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs. The family will hold private services.
Harry was born on April 29, 1963, in Ulysses, Kansas, to William Edward Simon and Lillian Edith Simon (McCallum). He grew up with a strong sense of independence and determination that would remain with him throughout his life. Harry graduated from Charles Page High School in 1981, where he was a proud member of the school band and played the trombone.
In 1982, Harry answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. During his 13 years of military service, he served in Korea and during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Iraq. His commitment to duty and service was a source of quiet pride throughout his life.
Following his military career, Harry worked for McDonnell Douglas before beginning a long career with American Airlines as an aircraft mechanic. He took great pride in his work and his skill with machinery and aircraft. After many years of dedicated service, he retired three years ago.
Beneath that rough exterior was a man who deeply loved his family, valued hard work, and was always willing to lend his expertise when needed.
On November 19, 1983, Harry married the love of his life, Tammy (Metcalf) Underwood, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together they built a family and shared many years of memories before her passing in 1995.
Harry was a man of many talents and interests. Alongside his brother Rex, he operated a gunsmithing shop, providing firearm repairs, sales, and services as a federally licensed firearms dealer. He enjoyed participating in gun shows, where he could share his knowledge and passion with others. He also loved motorcycles, airplanes, and anything mechanical. Those who knew Harry best often knew him as a self-described "grumpy old man," but beneath that rough exterior was a man who deeply loved his family, valued hard work, and was always willing to lend his expertise when needed.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tammy Simon; his parents, William Edward Simon and Lillian Edith Simon; and his brother, Mark Simon.
Harry leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Chris Simon and wife, Kassandra; his grandchildren: John Foor, Joseph Simon, and Ace Simon; his brothers, Lee Simon and wife, Debra, and Rex Simon and wife, Genia; along with many extended family members, friends, fellow veterans, and acquaintances whose lives were touched by his humor, knowledge, and presence.
Though Harry preferred a quiet life and often kept to himself, he will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to his work, his craftsmanship, and the love he held for his family. His memory will live on in the stories shared by those who knew him and loved him.
