Helen Jean
Kimbrell
Jan 11, 1929 — Nov 3, 2024
Tulsa
Helen "Jean" (Dunn) Kimbrell, 95 of Tulsa, passed away Sunday November 3, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, at the funeral home from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 7, at 10:00 a.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, with The Reverend Buddy Brown officiating.
Jean was born on January 11, 1929, to Harry Sydnor and Mabel (Irwin) Dunn in Tulsa, Oklahoma. When she was old enough, Jean began working in the family-owned grocery store and later the ice cream shop on 49th street and did so for over 15 years. Jean graduated from Tulsa Central High school during that time.
She met the love of her life and married James Robert "Jack" Kimbrell on November 17, 1956, in Tulsa, making their home there and never leaving. They were devout members of Glenwood Baptist Church.
Jean retired from the Tulsa County Election Board after 25 years in the Absentee Ballot Department.
She is remembered by her family for lighting up any room she entered with her sense of humor and her love of music.
Even though she "only knew two songs," she played the piano by ear, and was most likely the only member of Glenwood Baptist Church with a tambourine. She was a strong faithful woman who loved God and her family.
Survivors include her niece, Debbie Davis; and nephew, Jim Elledge, several great nieces and nephews, multiple Great-Great Nieces and Nephews and an innumerable number of friends and loved ones.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack; sister Georgianne Elledge and her husband, Capt. James W. Elledge.
