“

whose infectious laugh and warm spirit brightened the lives of everyone around her.

Janice Kay DeShields, born August 27, 1947, in Okemah, Oklahoma, was a loving mother, devoted wife, cherished grandmother, and dear friend whose infectious laugh and warm spirit brightened the lives of everyone around her. Janice went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 30th, 2026.

Janice graduated from Bearden High School in Bearden, Oklahoma. Throughout her life, she was an active member of several churches, where she found joy in singing in the choir alongside her church family and friends. Her faith, kindness, and love of fellowship were enduring parts of who she was.

She built a career that reflected her intelligence, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit. Janice worked in banking and clerical positions before she and her husband, Dennis, became business owners together. Their ventures included restaurants, a credit bureau, and an oil and gas business, where Janice handled the accounting and administrative work with care and skill.

More than anything, Janice loved her family. She delighted in shopping with and for those she loved—especially her grandchildren—and had a gift for making others smile with her unforgettable laugh. She enjoyed cheering for the OKC Thunder and was an especially devoted Oklahoma Sooners football fan. For many years, she held season tickets and made treasured memories attending OU football games, including bowl games and national championship events.

“

Janice also found peace and happiness outdoors, spending time watching and listening to birds and appreciating the beauty of nature.

Janice will be interred at Garden Grove Cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma, next to her parents, whom she loved dearly. A private celebration of life will be hosted by her family.

Janice will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, her devotion to her family, her joyful laughter, and the many memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.
