Herschel Jerry Martin passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025, with his family by his side. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 10, at the Jim Groesbeck Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Visitation to be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery in Sand Springs.

Jerry was born to Lorene and Ollie Martin in Sand Springs, OK, on August 7, 1939. He graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1957. He married his wife, Jean O'Neil, in March of 1958.

Jerry's early years of employment began with the Commander Mills cotton mill in Sand Springs. He later joined C-E Natco's manufacturing facility in Tulsa where he led the production Coating Department, applying protective coatings to petrochemical equipment. During his tenure at C-E Natco he traveled to numerous locations in North America, Europe, and Asia, troubleshooting and providing recommendations for the coatings on various oil field equipment. From C-E Natco, Jerry joined Carboline where he retired after (27) years as a Technical Service Engineer.

Jerry was an active participant in his children's and grandchildren's activities. Whether hiking, biking, dirt bike riding, boating, or attending untold numbers of baseball and basketball games, he was always on the move. At home he enjoyed landscaping his lawn and was what some would call, obsessed, with its care. He was a historical book reading buff and enjoyed talking at length about them to his sons for the lessons learned.

Jerry attended the Woodland Acres Baptist Church and enjoyed nothing more than his monthly meetings with the breakfast club.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Jean; sons, Bruce and wife Margie of Jacksonville, IL; Jay and wife Stefanie of Tulsa; grandchildren Garrett and wife Megan of Columbia, MO; Megan and husband John Cox of Edwardsville, IL; Alec, Addison, and Austin Martin of Tulsa; and great grandchildren Sawyer, Maddox, and Mack Martin of Columbia, MO; Gabriel, Meredith, and Millie Cox of Edwardsville, IL.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jean and Geraldine; and brother, Randal.
