Johnny Sherman Smith, 74 of Sand Springs, passed away on Monday May 29, 2023 at home, with his loving wife of 56 years, Carol by his side.

Funeral services will be held at Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service on Monday June 5, 2023 at 2 pm, with Pastor Frank Phillips officiating.

Johnny was born Sherman Johnny Smith on December 3, 1948 to Leslie Sherman Smith and Mertie Alice (Fultz) Smith in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

On April 7, 1967 Johnny married the love of his life, Edna Carol Cole in Sand Springs. Johnny worked for years at Boeing Aircraft Factory inspecting aircraft components through non-destructive testing, including Space Shuttles and B-1 Bombers. He was an animal lover and enjoyed raising and breeding Australian Shepards and was an avid OU football fan. He loved visiting relatives and spending time outside, often with a goofy wornout cowboy hat atop his head. Johnny was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Carol; two sons, John Smith and his wife Roba Kay, Jason Smith and his wife Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife Katelin Smith, Riley Smith, Gabrielle Shelton; a great granddaughter, Charlotte Smith; a brother, Sonny Smith; and sisters, Charlene Sloan, Kathy Mize, Dorothy Crain, Sharron Wattenbarger, and Donna Gray.
