Jonie Faye
Firestone
Jan 10, 1942 — Dec 10, 2024
Sperry
Jonie Faye (Tripp) Firestone, born January 10, 1942 in a humble oilfield house, near Owasso, OK passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, in her cherished family home. Her life was a testament to resilience, devotion, and love, touching countless lives over her 82 years.
She was raised by her devoted parents, Joseph Henry Tripp and Betty Lou Mathew-Tripp, alongside her two sisters Wanda Jean and Betty Jo. She also had unique relationship with Charles Tripp, her first born son, who was adopted and raised by her parents as her brother. Together, they built a close-knit family rooted in care and loyalty.
Despite leaving high school in the tenth grade, Jonie's determination led her to return and graduate at the age of 20 as Valedictorian of her class.
Jonie married Harvey Firestone at the age of 20, and together they had a son, Thomas Firestone. Although their marriage ended after 11 years, Jonie maintained her strong commitment to family. She began her career in banking, and while working earned her Associate's degree in Human Resources, showcasing her commitment to personal and professional growth. Her banking career spanned more than a decade. She then proudly served Tulsa County for 21 years in Human Resources, earning respect for her hard work and dedication before retiring.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Thomas Firestone and his wife, Lanita, with whom she shared a very special bond, always referring to her as the daughter she never had. She was grandmother to James Firestone and great grandmother to his son, Oliver. She also cherished her nieces and nephews from her brother Charles's family as her own, as well as her niece and nephew Bucky, and Debbie, along with her grand-nieces and nephews. Among them, she shared a particularly close bond with her nephew Kenneth West, and her heartfelt niece, Kimberly Henry.
In her final years, Jonie returned to the beloved farm property where she was raised. It was on this land, rich with family history, that she found peace. Remarkably, Jonie, her mother and her father, all passed in their loving homes within a 50-foot radius of one another, across a span of 33 years – a testament to the deep connection her family shared.
She will be remembered for her determination, grace, and devotion to family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
