Joseph Eugene Broughton Sr., 76, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed away on June 9th, 2023.

He was born on April 24th, 1947, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Andy Eugene Broughton and Blanche V. (Ayers) Broughton, both of whom preceded him in death.  Joe graduated from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs where he was the field goal kicker, punter and tackle on the Sandite football team. Joe and Sandy were married on April 26, 1968. Joe retired from Norris Sucker Rods where he was a supervisor.  Joe's family describes him as one of the sweetest men on earth, but they said he was also a little ornery and loved to tease those around him. Joe enjoyed watching OU Sooner football, fishing, eating at his favorite restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.

Joe is survived by his wife, Sandra Broughton; his son, Joe Broughton II and daughter-in-law Chelynn Broughton; his grandchildren: Jeremy Owens, Brittany Pride, and Morgan Broughton; and great-grandchildren: Audrey Pride, Atticus Pride, Jackson Owens, Nora Kai Owens, and Asher Null.

A ceremony to honor Joe's life will be 10 a.m., Monday, June 26, at Olivet Baptist Church.
