Joseph Arthur
Medearis
Mar 24, 1944 — Jun 29, 2023
Sand Springs
Joseph Arthur Medearis, 79, of Sand Springs Ok, passed away in St. Joseph's Medical Center Thursday afternoon, June 29th, 2023. He was born in Neosho MO on March 24th, 1944, to the late Joe and Marie Medearis. He was raised alongside his sister Sue, and brother Harry.
Joe had different jobs throughout the years. He was a Teamster and helped workers get better pay and improved working conditions, but the majority of Joes professional career was proudly spent behind the wheel of a semi-truck. Joe hauled just about everything to all the continental United States multiple times, logging untold thousands of miles and hours on the road, sometimes having to spend months at a time away from home.
Joe was an avid fan of Oklahoma University athletics, especially football. He also enjoyed Kansas City Royals Baseball and enjoyed watching the PGA golf tournaments. He also loved spending any off time he may have had with his fur babies (not dogs) and could often be found lounging in his La-Z-Boy recliner with them.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joe & Marie Medearis of Wichita KS. He is survived by his wife Kim Medearis of Sand Springs OK, his son Duane Medearis formerly of Bixby OK, his son Jeffrey Medearis and wife Teresa of Oolagah OK, Son Travis Frost and wife Teresa of Ponca City OK, Daughter Ashley Robertson and husband Kaleb of Sand Springs OK, 6 grandchildren, Joey Medearis of Las Vegas NV, Jeffrey, Megan, Mason, and Jaylyn Medearis of Oolagah OK, and Jayce Robertson of Sand Springs, OK. He is also survived by his brother Harry Medearis and family of Oklahoma City OK, his sister Sue Medearis and family of Wichita KS, his Aunt Margaret Cannady of Joplin MO, and his uncle Max Stark and family of Joplin MO.
Joe will be remembered with a Celebration of his Life on Monday, July 10, at The Canyons at Blackjack Ridge in Sand Springs, OK from 2-4 pm.
