Joyce Rice Knapp departed this life on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the age of 76. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

The daughter of Charlie Cecil Rice and Elsie Mae (Gragg) Rice was born February 24, 1945, in Sand Springs. Joyce was a lifetime resident of Sand Springs, graduating with Charles Page High School class of 1962. Joyce had a caring heart. She began her career taking care of residents at Hissom Memorial Center until they closed, and then went to work at Kerr Glass for many years. After they closed their plant, she returned to caring for others with Bios Companies. She was a house supervisor and cared for Stevie and they became very close.

Joyce enjoyed taking care of her kids and grandkids; and raised her older grandchildren. Joyce liked being in charge, could be determined to get her way, but also had a great sense of humor.

Joyce is preceded in death by her son, Timothy "Timmy" Meldrum; her parents; and brothers: Melvin Gene Rice, Lloyd Joe Rice, and Charles Billy Rice.

She is survived by her children: LaDonna Dawes and husband, Dewayne of Sand Springs, and Amber Goodson and husband, Gerald of Owasso; grandchildren: Mitch Pfeifer and wife, Andrea, Shae Crouthamel and husband, Harry, Blaze Pfeifer and wife, Carinna, Cameron Holder, Joshua Meldrum, Maranda Meldrum, Lyndsay Goodson, Austin Goodson, Gracie Goodson, and Valentine Knapp; and great-grandchildren: Jordan, Luke, Aydin, Hagen, Paxton, Braden, Kinsley, Kaiden, Sophia, Teddy, Emma, Blaiden, Colton, and Maxine.
