LaDonna Mae Kaemmerling, 96, a lifelong resident of Sand Springs, passed from this life Monday, July 29th, 2024, at Green Tree Assisted Living surrounded by her family. LaDonna was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on December 19th, 1927. She was the first of three children to Lloyd and Christine Maxwell. LaDonna was a graduate of Sand Springs High School and married James Ross Kaemmerling on June 4th, 1948. She was known for her selflessness, honesty, and kindness. Ladonna volunteered regularly at Hillcrest Medical Center, was a Girl Scout leader and served as an election official. She had a positive impact on everyone she met, always offering a warm smile and a helping hand. A lifelong learner, LaDonna had a passion for knowledge and was an avid reader who enjoyed the challenge of crosswords. Her love for bridge brought her joy and companionship. One of her favorite quotes, which she kept on her fridge for years, was by Jimi Hendrix: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." This quote resonated deeply with her and reflected her belief in the importance of love and compassion. LaDonna is survived by her two daughters, TeRessa Kaemmerling and her husband Ken Young of Oklahoma City, Karen and Steve Kuns of Sand Springs, her two grandsons, Derek Kuns, and partner Hana of Sand Springs and Greg Kuns and partner Jodi of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a devoted mother to her beloved daughters and a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. As we remember LaDonna we celebrate a life well-lived and the lasting legacy she leaves behind. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
Donations can be made to Seasons Hospice or Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries in her memory.
