He was an all-around damn good guy—someone who loved his family, enjoyed a good adventure, and knew how to have fun.

Larry Clinton Bennett entered his heavenly home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the age of 85. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00–6:00 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 1:00–2:00 p.m.

Larry was born on March 27, 1941, at Sand Springs Hospital in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, to Henry James Bennett and Amanda Ann (Inks) Bennett. A lifelong Oklahoman with deep roots in the Sand Springs and Tulsa communities, Larry grew up in Sand Springs and attended Charles Page High School. He enjoyed playing football during his junior high years, and after high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Larry spent a couple of years living in Colorado before returning to Oklahoma, where he made his home in Tulsa and the surrounding area for the remainder of his life. He worked as a security officer for Wells Fargo before beginning a 29-year career with Helmerich & Payne at Utica Square. He retired at the age of 72.

He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter, and adventures that will be carried on by those who knew him best.

There was much more to Larry than his working years. He was a man who enjoyed life on his own terms and found happiness in the simple things. He loved fishing, riding motorcycles, spending weekends at the lake, and buying tools. Each year, he looked forward to his annual trip to Texas, and one of his memorable motorcycle adventures took him to Taos, New Mexico.

Larry was known affectionately by his biker name, “Bear.” And while he might have jokingly described himself as a “grumpy old biker bastard,” those who knew him best knew there was a whole lot more to him than that. He was an all-around damn good guy—someone who loved his family, enjoyed a good adventure, and knew how to have fun.

If you ever happened to see Larry riding down the road, you might have been treated to quite a sight. He could be cruising along on his motorcycle, playing Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and dancing as he rode. That was Larry—unapologetically himself, full of personality, and always ready to make life a little more entertaining.

Most of all, Larry enjoyed spending time with his family. He cherished the people he loved and leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter, and adventures that will be carried on by those who knew him best.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Amanda Bennett, his granddaughter, April Bennett, and his ten brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his children: Teresa Bennett and her partner, Randy Wooten, and Clinton Bennett and his partner, Sharon; grandchildren: Casey Shockley and husband, Ron, Larry Bennett, Daniel Johnson, Jesse Bennett, Jacob Crockett, and Heather Schaefer and husband, Christopher Noftsger; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of family, friendship, adventure, and a life lived with plenty of personality. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
