Larry was born on May 28, 1948, to James Robert and Ruby Carlena (Smith) Watkins in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  After graduation, Larry joined the US Army, in 1966 serving in Germany.  He married Peggy Jean Crow on March 5, 1970 in Sand Springs, having just celebrated 51 years.  They were members of Reach Church for the past 11 years, before that they were members at New Visions and Calvary Heights Assembly of God. He loved Jesus, family, his church and he enjoyed to watch his boys, grand kids and nieces play baseball or anything they were involved in. He often would tell his kids that baseball is a simple game, you throw the ball, you hit the ball and you catch the ball. Always there encouraging them and was their biggest fan. He was "Mr. Fix it" if he didn't know how to do it he would google it to learn. He was willing to help anyone who needed help.
