Lawrence “Larry” Ray Sawyer was born on January 9, 1943, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Lawrence Albert Sawyer and Lois Jean Coppenger Sawyer.

Larry married Carol Ann Goins in 1962, and together they had two children, Sheri Lynne Sawyer Thomas and Kevin Bryan Sawyer. Larry and Carol shared many years together until her passing in 1999.

In 2000, Larry married Kim Horne, and with their marriage his family grew to include three bonus daughters, Amber Goodman, Amanda Johnson, and Ashley Bellinger. Family was an important part of Larry’s life, and over the years it grew to include children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory with them.

One of Larry’s greatest passions was riding his motorcycle. He loved the freedom of the open road and seeing Oklahoma from the seat of his bike. At the age of 74, Larry accomplished something few people could say they had done—he rode every highway in the state of Oklahoma on his motorcycle. It was an accomplishment that perfectly reflected his adventurous spirit, determination, and love of the road.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kim; his son, Kevin Sawyer and Melissa Triplett of Bristow; his daughters, Sheri Thomas of Grove, Amanda Johnson and husband Scott of Collinsville, Ashley Bellinger and Michael Vaughn of Collinsville, and Amber Goodman and husband Isaac of Owasso.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Derek Thomas and Miryam Johnson, Kara Brixey and husband Eric, Christopher Weygandt, Bella Goodman, Zoey Goodman, Maddie Bellinger, Chloe Bellinger, and Livvy Vaughn, expected in December; and his great-grandchildren, Addi Ward, Sawyer Brixey, and Drew Weygandt. Adopted neighbor grandchildren Kyra, Korbin, Keesee, Kelten & Kamree.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Lois Sawyer; his first wife, Carol Sawyer; his daughter-in-law, Lisa Sawyer; and his brothers, Pat Sawyer and Ron Sawyer.

Larry leaves behind a family who loved him, countless memories, and a life marked by family, adventure, and a love for the open road. His motorcycle may be still now, but the stories of the miles he traveled—and the life he lived along the way—will continue to be told by those who knew and loved him.
