Linda L.
Mccormick
Aug 15, 1941 — Mar 17, 2024
Stillwater
Linda Lou McCormick, 82, of Stillwater, Okla., passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 17, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.
Linda was born on August 15, 1941, to Clayton and Noval (Sheets) Phillips in Gallipolis, Ohio. She graduated from Gallia Academy High School. She then attended the Holzer School of Nursing where she studied to become a registered nurse. She worked for the VA system for many years before moving to Sand Springs, Okla., where she worked for Tulsa Regional Medical Center, now known as the OSU Medical Center. She retired in 2003 after a 42-year career as a nurse. With a servant's heart, she cared for thousands of patients throughout her career.
Linda was introduced to James (Jim) McCormick by his aunt. They dated for a short time and were united in marriage on March 16, 1964, in Pearisburg, Va. They spent time living in Ohio and Kansas before settling in Sand Springs in 1984. They moved to Stillwater after their home in Sand Springs was flooded in 2019.
She enjoyed flowers, crocheting, reading, cooking, and canning fresh vegetables from the garden. She loved colleting Roseville pottery and depression glass and enjoyed searching for unique pieces with her husband. She also loved going to shows featuring orchids, irises, succulents, and roses. She faithfully attended events her children and grandchildren participated in and was incredibly proud of all their accomplishments.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law Jane Phillips, and brother-in-law John McCormick. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim of the home; children: Gary McCormick and wife Jannette of Coweta, Okla.; Pam Cartmell and husband Dwayne of Perkins, Okla.; brother Lewis Phillips of Florissant, Colo.; grandchildren: Taylor Cartmell, Ashton Earp and husband Ryan, Joshua McCormick, Sutton Cartmell, and Jacob McCormick; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
