Lonna June Barr passed from this earthly life on August 21, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born May 24, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Lonna grew up in Sand Springs and graduated from Charles Page High School. She went on to become a successful business owner. She owned and operated “Lonna’s Pass It On Consignment,” which later became “Trendy Consignment.” A tireless worker throughout her life, Lonna poured herself into her family, her career, her business, her church, and, above all, her Christian faith.
Lonna was Christ-like in the way she lived and was a wonderful example of what it meant to put faith into action. She gave freely of herself to family, friends, and even complete strangers in need, rarely hesitating when there was an opportunity to help someone. “No” simply was not a word she used very often when someone needed her. She was a longtime faithful member of Christ Church in Tulsa, and her desire to serve others extended far beyond her own community. Within the last decade, she traveled to Africa on a mission trip, putting into practice the faith that guided her throughout her life.
Music was also an important part of Lonna’s life. A talented singer and performer, she recorded an album with her father’s band, “Rubert Furr & The Gospel Melody Group,” and also made appearances on local television shows.
Lonna possessed a wonderful combination of creativity, determination, humor, and seemingly endless energy. She loved gardening, especially growing flowers, and was a skilled painter and artist. Among her more whimsical creations were her “snow babies,” tiny snowmen that she decorated with wigs and jewelry.
She was also a prankster who loved to laugh, joke, and have fun. Even in the midst of hard work, Lonna remained cheerful and was always ready for another adventure. Just a couple of years ago, she hot rolled her great-nieces’ hair for prom so she could attend as a chaperone with her husband. In recent years, she also took on the task of remodeling her brother’s home while he was in the hospital. She worked to the point of exhaustion and stopped only when others finally convinced her she had done enough. She tirelessly took care of Butch when he was able to come home, all the way until his passing.
That was Lonna. Whether she was helping someone in need, working on her business, serving her church, singing, painting, tending flowers, remodeling a house, creating one of her snow babies, or simply making those around her laugh, she gave herself completely to whatever was before her. She worked hard, loved deeply, lived joyfully, and remained devoted to her faith and family throughout her life.
Lonna is survived by her niece, Jackie Bliss and husband Echota West; niece, MeLisa Moran; great-nieces, Emma Plute and husband Brandon Plute, Katy Brown and husband Andrew Brown, Ryleigh West, and Cheycota West; great-nephew, Taylor Suitor; great-great-nieces, Charley Brown and Stevi Burgess; and great-great-nephews, Tucker Brown, Wesley Plute, and Ryder Plute.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rubert Furr and Emma Furr, and her brother R.L. “Butch” Furr.
