"Mona"

Lesta Louise Meyer, lovingly known as "Mona", was born November 5, 1935, in Burrton, Kansas, and died December 11th, 2022 in Tulsa Ok.  She was the third of four children born to Papa George Rose and Mama Nola Weaver Rose.  Her siblings were Betty Jean Rose Thompson, Edward Earl Rose, and Jimmy Clifford Brooks Rose, all of which have preceded her in death.  Louise married Billy Gene Meyer on February 16, 1952, and began a family adding four boys: Michael Gene, Billy Edward, George Richard, and Jimmy Dale.  It didn't take long for these handsome young men to find their own sweethearts, Diane, Cynda, Gigi, and Sandy, and give Mona and Poppa another generation of beautiful babies to love and adore.  Their grandchildren include Shannon Sharp, Justin Meyer, Erika Huff, Whitney Davis, Cameron Meyer, Abbey Allcott, Sarah Durborow, Jennifer Box, Nick Meyer.  Great-grandchildren include: Kayla Billingsley, Breanna Sharp, Josh Sharp, Ashlynn Meyer, Kylie Meyer, and Ryan Meyer, Brynlee Durborow, and Landon Durborow, Raffie Huff, Blythe Huff, and Nash Huff, Benjamin and Jack Davis, Quint and Ryker Allcott, Garrett Schones, Wyatt Box and Sydney Box, Sullivan and Cohen Meyer. Even a Great-Great Grandchild, Emersyn Billingsley.

Our beloved Mona commanded respect and showered us with affection.  She was our Indian princess, with sparkling black eyes and a smile which made you feel welcomed and loved. Mona was beautiful inside and out, and the Queen of all caretakers.  Poppa and Mona began attending  Broadway Baptist Church in Sand Springs in 1976 where Mona soon became involved with the nursery department, and later the Broadway Baptist Preschool.  Her life always centered around children, especially babies.  The "Baby Whisperer" had this unique ability to calm just about any baby by cradling them in her arms, rocking, and singing to them.

Cooking was also one of her gifts.  From pie crust to "Hoppin' John" everyone scrambled to get refills and recipes, and no one left her home without something in hand from her kitchen.

She was an immaculate housekeeper and raised four rambunctious boys into wonderful, God-fearing men.  "A virtuous woman who can find…?" (Proverbs 31:10)  Bill Meyer found her, and she was our Mona.

"…and God, Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away. … Behold I am making all things new…for these words are faithful and true." Revelation 21:4-5
