Mabel Childers
Segner
Mar 7, 1922 — Feb 2, 2025
Sand Springs
Mabel Childers Segner entered her heavenly home on Sunday, February 2, 2025, just a few weeks shy of her 103rd birthday, surrounded by her loving family. Born at her family home in Creek County on March 7, 1922, Mabel was one of 14 children. She graduated from Glencoe High School in 1940 and married Thomas Segner on June 14, 1947, sharing 53 wonderful years together until his passing in May, 2000.
In her younger years, Mabel attended the Church of God and later became a devoted member of Broadway Baptist Church, attending faithfully until her health no longer allowed. Known for her unwavering diligence and strong work ethic, she dedicated much of her professional career to the oil and gas industry, working in clerical and data entry roles before retiring from Texaco.
In her free time, Mabel found joy in feeding and watching birds, had a deep passion for the beauty of flowers, enjoyed gardening, and was a devoted OU football fan. Renowned for her homemade noodles and chicken and dumplings, she regularly prepared Sunday meals for her family, creating cherished traditions around the dinner table. Mabel was also deeply passionate about politics, closely following government affairs and the latest developments.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Maude Childers; her husband, Thomas Segner; her sisters, Nola Kinion, Lora Pruitt, Opal Brennsing, Jewel Hammett, Juanita Childers, and Midge McDermid; and her brothers, Owen, Arthur, Orville, Jefferson, Lowell, Bill, and Everett Childers. She is survived by her sons, Victor Segner and wife Marianne, and Jeff Segner and wife Jennifer. Also surviving her are grandchildren Kristen Maronek and husband Brannon, Tori Gengenbach and husband Eric, and Tommy Segner and wife Katie. Her great-grandchildren, Max, Drew, and Luke Maronek; Emmy and Holden Segner; and Olivia, Bella, Abby, and Eden Gengenbach, will carry on her legacy of love and devotion.
