Lonie "Mae" Nelson entered her heavenly home on Tuesday morning, August 12, 2025, at the age of 102. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 18, at Woodland Memorial Park. Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, August 17, from 2–4 p.m.

Mae was born May 20, 1923, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Frank Parks and Ida Belle (Williams) Parks. Growing up, her family worked together in the cotton fields. On December 16, 1939, at just 16 years old, Mae married Ralph Alvin Nelson in McAlester, Oklahoma.

During World War II, while Ralph served in the military, Mae worked at the Ammunition Plant in McAlester, helping produce ammunition for the war effort. She always considered Henryetta "down home," but in the 1950s, she and Ralph moved to Tulsa, where they raised their family.

Mae had a lifelong gift for caring for others—especially children—and often babysat for multiple generations within families. She adored babies and was happiest when surrounded by them. A devoted member of Home Gardens Assembly of God, she made sure her children attended every Sunday without exception. Mae enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 2010; daughter, Darlene Anderson; granddaughter, Shellie Sparks; brothers: Henry Parks, Emmitt Parks, and Frank "Dune" Parks, Jr.; and sisters: Christine Hobbs and Ruth Brown.

Mae is survived by her children: Dwain A. Nelson and wife, Mary, and Devona R. Allison; grandchildren: Shawn Rose , Kristi Fairchild and husband, Jason, Nathan Nelson and wife, Mary, Nicholas Nelson and wife, Natalie, and Natalie Kurr and husband, Jon; great-grandchildren: Brandon Fairchild, Kristian Fairchild and wife, Makenzie, Colton Sparks, Cody Sparks, Myka Nelson, Khloe Nelson, Kipton Nelson, Nora Nelson, Macy Nelson, Makenzie Nelson, Breanna Kurr, Cameron Kurr, and Isaac Kurr, and great-great-granddaughters: Scottie Jo Fairchild and Delainey Renee Rose Sparks.

Mae's long life was a testament to her faith, resilience, and deep love for her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
