Martin Gordon Potter, "Marty" to those that knew him, born to Charles and Frances Potter on September 30, 1958, died unexpectedly on April 4th, 2025 while at work in Pflugerville, TX, at the age of 66.

Martin lived his early life in Park Rapids, MN before enlisting in the US army at the age of 17 in 1976. After his initial contract of 3 years, he signed for an additional 3 years with the US Army reserve and moved out to Washington state, joining the Portland, Oregon police department for 9 years.

After graduating with a 4.0 from Colorado Tech having earned a Master's in business management, he switched careers and worked as a mechanical maintenance manager for various companies for the rest of his life.

Marty grew up a hunter. His choice of hunt was deer. At the age of 5, he killed his first pig (Betsy) at the family farm and spent most of his time as a kid in the woods. He was a big action and war movie fan, a news junkie and was always happy to talk about politics or economics with anyone willing. He taught his kids marksmanship and liked taking the family up to the mountains for target practice. He was also very handy and would work on the family's house and cars. There wasn't much he couldn't fix, and what he didn't already know, didn't take him long to figure out.

His life was filled with struggle, from the hardships during his service in the Army and from being laid off of 8 Jobs over 25 years. He eventually moved across the country and settled in Sand Springs, OK for one of these jobs. His final job was with Amazon in Pflugerville, TX. Unwilling to uproot his family again, he decided to go to Texas himself, while coming up to Oklahoma for visits every month.

He was the rock his family relied on for knowledge and direction. His perseverance and hard working nature was appreciated and passed onto his children. Everything he did was in service to his country, community and family. In hopeless circumstances, he provided hope. His family is indescribably proud of him and eternally grateful. He is deeply loved and missed.

Husband, father, grandfather, friend, leader, American hero.

He is gone, but his impact will outlive even those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; Daughter, Natasha and Son-in-law, Taylor; Sons, Joshua, Jeremy and Daniel; Grandkids, Lunara and Elijah.
